Traditional architecture

In Greece, and especially in the province, wood is a companion and a partner in people’s lives, as it helps them either build or warm up or use it simply as a decoration material.

Besides, it is no coincidence that most of the old traditional houses of the mountainous areas of the country are made of wood and stone, while in winter tourist destinations and islands, there are more and more preferred hostels and traditional settlements that have wood as the basic building material.

This is because wood, both in appearance and in features, gives off warmth, creating a sense of intimacy and geniality.

This is another reason why it is preferable to install wooden frames over the frames made of other materials.

The use of wooden frames is further reinforced by “legal provisions” which explicitly prohibit the use of any material other than wood in the installation of window frames in traditional settlements in different parts of the country.
